Steve Johnson


Steve is a photojournalist, technologist, professor and entrepreneur leading the charge in immersive storytelling across news organizations, non profits and universities.

Working with fellow journalists to write the manual on immersive storytelling, he has developed standards and practices, ethics guidelines and tools that are used among news organizations and universities nation-wide.

Before creating SeeBoundless in 2015, Steve taught journalism at The University of Florida and was a freelance photojournalist for The New York Times, The Miami Herald, Reuters, The Orlando Sentinel and ESPN.

Brooke Van Dam


Brooke runs our education and research division which provides a variety of training for universities and organizations as well as looks at larger ethical issues in storytelling.

Before joining SeeBoundless, Brooke was the faculty director for the journalism program at Georgetown University as well as an associate professor.

Brooke received her Ph.D. in Sociology from City University London. Her MA in International Journalism from the University of Westminster included a documentary on the 2005 UK Parliamentary election.

Alexis Barnes

Producer + 3D Artists

Alexis produces a variety of work such as photogrammetry for AR, 360-degree videos and traditional videos. She is also the innovation project manager for the Emerging Technology Lab (ET Lab) at UNC’s School of Media and Journalism. Alexis’ work in 3D modeling has been critical to the production of The 2050 Project and other SeeBoundless work.

Ryan Jones

Photographer + Environmental Specialist

Ryan is a freelance photographer based in Jacksonville, Fla., and recently completed an Interdisciplinary Ecology master’s degree at the University of Florida School of Natural Resources and Environment with a focus on wildlife conservation. With a background rooted in journalism and a passion for the environment, he hopes to bring the two together through his photography.

His work behind the 360-degree camera made GEARUP NC VR possible.

Melissa Lyttle

Photojournalist + Drone Pilot

Melissa is the founder of APhotoADay and GeekFest, a member of Women Photograph, an International Women's Media Foundation US-Mexico border reporting fellow and grant recipient, the immediate Past President of the NPPA, and an Eddie Adams Workshop Alumna. She is also an FAA Part 107-certified drone pilot. Her work behind the camera and piloting was critical to the production of The 2050 Project.

Alyson Larson

Videographer + Editor

Alyson is a filmmaker and editor based in Gainesville, Fla. She has worked for nonprofits across 4 continents producing short film work, created a documentary, “Dear Friend,” to promote a school on the outskirts of Delhi and enjoys a kick-ass cup of coffee.  

Her work in the edit bay has made SeeBoundless look stellar and our clients even better.
